Interesting...

As an outsider, I've never been totally sold on pushing the idea of tipping points. Although i couldn't quite put my finger on why. I've tended to think more about how the media grabs on to stuff and presents tipping points. But, now, perhaps I appreciate better some things...

Even in best of times, being a researcher in academia has always been tough, for most, in terms of time to do science. (it's not much different being soft money btw)

Einstein made jokes that the best way to do science was not to be in academia. But, yep, things are exacerbated or even worse now.

Interesting. In southern Patagonia the 1500-1400 year expansion seems to be very important for the Icefield. Most outlet glaciers around Lago Argentino left moraines. Previously, I had not really appreciated this time period. Since, I've been wondering if broader hemispheric pattern at this time...?

i got there right when it closed..i wish i had done the same. I wanted to speak with people at nasa and noaa booths, etc. Oh well. Maybe i will suggest they put a sigh up with hours by the escalator next time.

yeah, although i finally had time to go to the exhibition hall yesterday and it closed before 1. i was kicked out at 1. i don't ever recall it being open for such a short period of time (monday late day to thursday morning). Obviously, i missed the message it was not open thursday,except morning.
