‘I deserve to heal’: freed British-Egyptian activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah on his prison ordeal and next steps The campaigner, who spent more than a decade in an Egyptian ‘vortex of incarceration’, wants to join his son in the UK while he reflects on the fight for freedom

Make no mistake. Those who spearheaded the Gaza genocide will try to relaunch it in a more ruthless manner, at the earliest opportunity.
They will fail only if there will be an alternative vision, one of recognition, life and equality for everyone.

Gaza peace plan risks borrowing more from Tony Blair’s failures in the Middle East than his success in Northern Ireland The former British leader was tapped to lead redevelopment efforts in Gaza if a deal is agreed upon.

My article on the 20 point gaza "peace plan" is now out. Let me tell you why peace processes in the Israeli Palestinian conflict seem to keep failing, with a focus on Tony Blair the menace of the middle east

Starmer to end asylum ‘golden ticket’ of resettlement and family reunion rights People granted asylum will have to earn right to invite family in plan charities call ‘straight from populist playbook’

Many people desperately wanted to see Starmer's LPC speech as a new direction on immigration and asylum. Yet, we clearly see a continuation of an approach that basically says Farage is right on policy but morally wrong. Others have tried it, it won't work.

A healing article to which I am extremely grateful. Check it out especially if you are interested in how revolutions stay with us even after disengagement and if you want to know how revolutionaries in Egypt try to stay committed to the values that mobilized them one day.

Yesterday marked 8 years since the late Sarah Hegazi raised the rainbow flag at a Mashrou' Leila concert in a moment of uncalculated joy so threatening to Egyptian authorities that they arrested, tortured, prosecuted her, and sent her to exile.

Sarah in my heart today. 🌈

People in palestine are bracing for greater crackdown as Israel punishes them for statehood recognition by UK, Canada, & Australia.

As I, and many others, have pointed out - these proclamations of recognition do nothing to stop the violence.

Today's decision is, in many ways, a long-awaited course correction. Alaa should have never been arrested, prosecuted, and sentenced for his free expression in the first place. And when he completed his most recent prison term last year, he should have been promptly released.

As a result of today's pardon, Alaa will finally be able to go home. He will be able to watch his son Khaled grow, reunite with his sisters Sanaa and Mona, and heal the heart of his mother who spent nearly 300 days on hunger strike to secure his release.

For that, we celebrate.

So uh there's a lot going on today. But I wrote this icct.nl/publication/...

Did you know the US has added 12 *criminal groups* to the Foreign Terrorist Organization list this year? There were zero such FTOs last year.

For decades, US allies have copied US terrorist designations. Not this year.
