I find it kind of interesting that most of the replies to this gravitate strongly towards overtly narrative focused games, which is understandable, but is there no beauty to be found in games that are extremely mechanics centric? Where does the distinction between "toy" stop and "art" begin

I'm not really superstitious about anything, except the computer, which must be restarted if it has been on too long, to cleanse it of bad or negative energies

One of my favourite, if not my favourite game series ever. Not a single bad entry, accessible to players of all ages/skill levels.

If you haven't played an Ace Attorney, please at least try the first one. It's available on virtually every platform.

I genuinely think all games should provide the same accessibility sliders as Control : you can chose to play the game the way the devs intended, or just adjust the damages your receive, the stamina recovery, the ammo supplies. Sliders allow every player to find the sweet spot for them.

Something I didn't mention in my story yesterday: one of the reasons that Team Cherry had such an enjoyable time making Silksong is that it's 2D. Nice and flat. Don't have to worry about 3D art pipelines.

In other words, all video games should be 2D

thing that eats me about a lot of modern action games: i have never once ever really felt like "corpse retreival" mechanics have added anything of value to the experience, i don't even really think it adds anything to Souls games, frankly but there's a whole slew of games copying it without thought
