Yeah from what i can tell they hijack other people's accounts to do the scam, so the 'haha sorry' initial message looks like it's from a legit account with post history when you click on it. Took me about a month of emails with the real support team to get my acc back lol

Yeah, stupid mistake from me, but they present you with official looking credentials, fake LinkedIn page when you look up their username, etc. It's very involved, or at least it was when I got got. Wasn't even a money thing, think its just to fuck people over

It's a multi-step thing. Usually its:

1. "Sorry, i've mistakenly reported you while trying to report your impersonator"

2. "Support team told me to send you over to them on discord" (them on another account)

3. "I just need to log into your account to take off the report"

4. They deactivate you

The account's gone.

Quick head-up, if this account messages you saying that someome's impersonating you and you should message them on discord, do not engage. Its the same exact scam that got my account taken over on deviantart a while back
