Upon further review, I recant “[Hank Aaron] didn’t play for the franchise.” Forgot those really transformative years of his at age 41 and 42.

I don’t think he’s trying to say they suck as players. He’s talking specifically about their ability to play that specific tactical role. Those guys are better suited elsewhere, which is why he plays them elsewhere, with regularity. I kinda find the transparency refreshing. It’s just worded poorly.
