Liz Truss wanted to abolish the Equality Act because she mistakenly thinks “it says whether you’re a woman or whether you’re Black or whether you’re gay is more important than what your talents are.” Is it any surprise then that she turned the EHRC into a vehicle for anti-trans politics?

Transphobes have tried to push trans people out of events like these, but we are here to show we belong and are welcome in these spaces, just as we should be welcome everywhere.

We look forward to showing our results and sharing our experiences with you.

To celebrate Trans Day of Visibility, we’ll be returning to our social media and making some BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS.

We look forward to sharing the good news, starting with our snazzy new profile pic.

They just think trans people are fake. Simple as that.

The whole “advantage” idea is a distraction from that core belief which can be dropped in a heartbeat when they don’t think they need it anymore.

Quote tweet by Riley Gaines in response to Erin Reed pointing out her support for banning trans women from chess. It reads: “Of course I do. I worked alongside leadership within to make sure of it. Women's opportunities are meant for women, full stop. Men shouldn't be in women's category in chess, pool, or any sport.

Why even have women's category in the first place if men can play wherever they want?”

Here we see one of the more prominent anti-trans campaigners in the US stating the reality of the trans people in sports “debate” openly.

It’s not about “advantage”, it’s about their belief that societal systems MUST treat trans people as their sex assigned at birth in all cases.

There are hundreds of Parkruns across the UK and Ireland alone, so find one local to you and consider getting involved.

We would encourage trans people to sign up for their local Parkruns, not just to make use of this wonderful resource, but to show that we are welcome and belong in these events just as we belong in all areas of public life.

It is not appropriate or practical for us to request proof or adjudicate the validity of a person’s gender identity, just as we would and could not ask every single one of our 8 million registered participants to evidence other stated details, whether that be their name, age, postcode or activity level. Our position, therefore, is that we publish results based on a person’s self-declared information, including gender.

They rightfully point out that, just as with proposed restrictions on trans people's access to public restrooms, enacting trans exclusionary policy would require invasive and impractical checks of peoples' gender.

Parkruns are a wonderful opportunity for community and exercise that should be open and welcoming to all. These groups seek to change that. We are glad that Parkrun has stood firm on this matter, making clear on their website that they retaining their self-identification policy.

Transphobia in sports has largely centred around high-level professional sports and school sports (and those are also discriminatory). But they are now expanding to any public physical activity. This is an effort to expand anti-trans bigotry into wider aspects of public life.

Anti-trans activists protest non-competitive Parkrun event over trans inclusion Anti-trans activists have staged a protest at Parkrun in Manchester over trans women being allowed to participate.

Right here is a clear example of what we're trying to fight against. Anti-trans groups have recently made a push to target local parkruns (the free-to-enter, non-competitive, mixed-gender events) for basic trans inclusion.

Modern transphobia has often centred around sport, including public mixed-gender events such as these. We’re trying to push back against that by encouraging and celebrating trans participation in running.
