When you're sad, you buy things. Sometimes you need to search for things to buy. Sometimes your local comic shop gets in an Alien Queen and you say 'if this is still here by the end of the week I'll buy it.'

One week later, my collection now has a proper Queen! Now I need a better display for her.

Narration: By the time the lesson was over, they were already gone. Lucy is reading messages on her phone. Messages: Alert: black SUV Sighting: be on alert for... Confirmed abductionL alley between ----- and ----. SUV plates... We tried to get them inside, but it was too... ...Contacting an I.R. lawyer. Heading to Broadview later today.

Lucy is riding her bike home. Narration: On the ride home, I kept thinking "If I'd been there, could I have warned them? Narration: I'd taken the training after Halloween, when the violent ICE raids had locked down our schools and driven our neighbors indoors. But this year's was tense, frightened and subdued. Haunted.

I both love and hate them

I am deeply fortunate that I didn't really feel her brand of hate as a kid. Thanks to my parents it soared right over me. I wouldn't encounter her brand of hate again until years later, in middle school.

By then, like most teens, I was ready to just be an asshole about it.

It's ok - for every terrible teacher I had there were 2 who showed me how beautiful and wonderful the world should be. I consider myself very lucky.

Our teachers are a valued resource we need to cherish and uplift. That includes identifying, isolating, and removing the bad actors among them.

I'm very lucky I had parents who could stand up for me, and fight the absurd accusations behind my back.

I'll never forget going to trick-or-treat at her house, so excited to see her. I had hoped she remembers my joy, and it taught her a lesson.

More realistically, shes probably this teacher.

I didn't learn until later in life that my favorite teacher in 3rd grade secretly hated me. I loved her so much. She reported me at 8 years old for saying sexually explicit things in class, being a distraction, then tried to suggest my stepfather beat me.

Hate like this has always been here.

Gryphon had a lot of complications suddenly arise from nowhere. Neither my partner and I were prepared. I am devastated.
