China's oyster-inspired 'bone glue' bonds fractures in minutes A new oyster-inspired Bone-02 adhesive can revolutionize bone repair without metal fasteners.

โš ๏ธ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

So bottom line: the risk for Germany is that if it does not move to shore up car demand, it will face a much higher bill for lost tax receipts, bailouts, unemployment schemes and retraining in a year or two.

The choice here for Berlin is pay now โ€” or pay much more later.

Memo for Labour: globalisation is good, actually This government is in many ways the party returned to its factory settings. But the product was faulty in the first place

While I agree with much of what Stephen Bush argues here, I think this claim is overly simplistic: "This shouldnโ€™t need saying in 2025 but markets and globalisation are good."

I was happy to see the Franco-German economic counsellors pick up our idea in their latest set of notes for the Chancellor and President Macron.

I can only hope they act on it soon - the prospect of 9 million in Chinese car exports a year, w imports at 1 million, is as big a deal as it sounds.

This new study shows: in Germany, it has become much harder for children to earn more than their parents, now about as hard as in the US: "parental income has become much more important for educational outcomes of children"

Busting up big corporations and tackling Wall Streetโ€™s greed.

Getting big money out of politics.

Supporting unions and fighting for higher wages.

If Dems want to win back working people, this is the agenda they must support.

BRICS in 2025 | The Polycrisis Nations meet in Brasilia for the 2025 BRICS Summit. China's rise and US chaos shape the opportunities and challenges for the group.

โ€œChinaโ€™s dramatic surge of investment into the โ€™new threeโ€˜โ€”EVs, batteries, and solarโ€”is expected to crush oil demand by 5M barrels/day by 2030. 1/15 The Trump administration says it wants to bring manufacturing back to America and reindustrialize the US. But their trade policy does this by making foreign competition more expensive, not by helping American manufacturers compete with AI-powered production elsewhere.

The AI infrastructure build-out is so gigantic that in the past 6 months, it contributed more to the growth of the U.S. economy than /all of consumer spending/

The 'magnificent 7' spent more than $100 billion on data centers and the like in the past three months *alone*

I'm tired of analysts saying the tariffs haven't shown up in the data. It's not shown up in the *aggregate CPI*, but it's certainly shown up categories of CPI, PPI. And it's shown up in "big data" treatments, see Cavallo et al. for data through JULY 26:

Greek debt/GDP ratio is now between 153-158%. Lower than 207% (in 2020), still higher than 120% (in 2010, when *this* debt level triggered panic). If it is falling it is because of inflation, balanced budgets (ie spending cuts), continued austerity and at a cost of 10% persistent unemployment.
