humans turn into trees. trees get chopped down by chainsaws. five alternate conclusions other than death at the end of human lifespans. turning into trees if you live long enough. it's not death. chainsaw man, pochita, treecutting, ITS ALL COMING TOGETHER ABHARBHRGH #chainsawman

Also it looks like it was specifically the Bitterness Devil who was used for the Axe, given the tooth shape. So it's also Asa using the embodiment of Denji's first love to help them escape as well. These two are just too adorable.

#csm185 writing wise, it also makes me think. Trees, as lifeforms, are the ultimate example of big, unwavering, uncaring, mindless things -- They ignore the world around them, living in peace in their place; not causing any kind of ruckus around them.
I may be forcing it, but Ignorance is Bliss.

I also wonder if there's any trees in the human worle who are actually ancient humans.

#csm185 also very interesting tidbit of human biology. i wonder if the "tree forms" are some kind of result of aging's domain that it doesnt have control over or if this could happen in real life.
also if a hybrid could theoritically transform like this... tho I doubt it.

#csm185 and once again, he has to resort to cannibalism. this is the first time -- if im not wrong -- where denji has had to taste "human" flesh (no devils or hybrids, which we know taste differently than humans).
i think this expands the views on his morality to some extent. its interesting!

i think miri just got somewhat shafted by the fact that these last like, two volumes? have been very centered on asa and denji's story

this has also affected characters like yoshida to an extent. i do think that whenever things calm down for both mc's the focus will be widened to them tho

This what MLKโ€™ s daughter has suggested we do.

Great list.

I wouldn't be surprised if CSM ends with Denji completely disposing of his immortality. It's hard to actually think of a "good" ending for him within it, at least for me

19.11.2024 16:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 5    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This also makes me think about how immortality as a whole may be tackled in CSM going forward.
Barem and his underlings describe it as a gift from God. To Denji, it has been both a gift and a curse multiple times over -- But now he actually may have to face the final, worst repercussion

19.11.2024 16:07 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Thats what I had in mind too -- Especially Quanxi. She's always been shown as stoic and silent, and especially after the deaths of her girlfriends, she's turned practically robotic. The parallels between her and Denji have always been there I think, but this could enforce them greatly.

19.11.2024 15:28 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 21    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

this, if true, is the first step for him eventually becoming emotionally numb, and it really does scare me.
An immortal who desperately tries to fill in the holes left by those who couldn't live on is doomed to live in sadness, as everything withers and dies.

It sure as hell wouldn't be healthy. I wonder if he really means this or is just talking shit to the Aging Devil here.

These panels are... Unnerving. It gives the idea of Denji, in his unending immortality, entering some kind of sick cycle where he tries and tries to fill out the holes in his heart with new people, trying to replicate the happiness he once felt with Aki, Power or Nayuta.

not like really hot or anything but
They really just need to kill off Nick Fury Sr. The character hasn't done anything of note in like a decade+ and theres a billion of different replacements (His son, namely).
Make it a big event, Captain Marvel style. Idk.

Fujimoto really realized how 70% of his fanbase reacted to his female characters and had the perfect idea to exploit that very same reaction for the themes of the writing. P2 as a whole is a huge critique of shonen fandom culture and Yoru is kind of a perfect antagonist for that.

Sorry if this was badly worded, formatted, or anything. I'm not too used to sharing my thoughts like this. This is just a topic that means much to me.

Chainsaw Man Part 2 is about many, MANY things, within these included gender. About sex, and identity. Chainsaw Man is slowly detaching himself from it, detaching himself from the idea of the Heroic, Powerful Man. I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s coming, but Iโ€™m excited.

16.11.2024 04:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Heโ€™s so tired of everything, of ruining everything, of being a disgusting man. It haunts him.

16.11.2024 04:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

-- he got distracted from the search for Nayuta just now. He realizes, and thus, he breaks.
He hates it. He hates himself. He hates everyone around him for not caring. He gets mad when someone dares to laugh at his struggle.

16.11.2024 04:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

-- or that drives back that inner violence as a coping mechanism.
Itโ€™s in 166 that there's a show of signs of him realizing this. He blames himself, his mind, his own body; for all being part in whatโ€™s happened to him. Theyโ€™re the reason he lusted over Makima, and theyโ€™re the reason why --

16.11.2024 04:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

He still struggles to word his true needs, which are having people to love that love him back, who understand him; a warm home to call his own. This is what Aki, Power, Nayuta and the pets were. Itโ€™s the loss of these that makes him feel empty inside --

16.11.2024 04:12 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

In the most recent chapter (183, as to the time Iโ€™m writing and posting this) only enforces this further. Heโ€™s still confused about his wants, chalking it all up to sex and girls, when only moments before he got freaked out by Yoruโ€™s advancements.

16.11.2024 04:12 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Denji's ties with masculinity are the ones that confuse him further, as he follows an idea of what he is, and not the real Denji. Himeno, Makima and Fumiko all reassured these ideas within him, with acts of abuse and harassment.

16.11.2024 04:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Said chapter is also one of the main reasons as to why a lot of these points were connected.

16.11.2024 04:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This may be big projecting, as a genderqueer teen who finds it very complicated to nail down their identity. When Chapter 166 dropped, I felt very, deeply vulnerable. It felt like the story was talking to me, illustrating my own inner struggles through Denjiโ€™s own.
