Life is short and for average people, it's not easy. What fuels my anger the most is that a handful of men in the world, who have all of their needs met and beyond, are toying with the lives of millions all for the amusement of their boredom and their narcissistic need for power.

Why would you trust guarantees from a regime that has made it clear it wants to see a fragmented, divided and weakened Europe? One that doesn't care about international law? One that is treatening to invade it's neighbours?

Agree, the threat of retaliation has to be both more personal to Trump - he's done in Europe - and also economic (trade deal dead, massive retaliation vs. US tech/stock market).

Maybe the greatest example of the bizarro world in which we now live is that European states are maintaining the dangerous fiction that the US would fight for them, when the more likely use of US military force would be to kick Europe out of Greenland.
