As of today, Elon Musk is thought to be responsible for the death of 300,000 adults and kids due to the illegal closure of USAID (source: www.impactcounter.com/dashboard?vi...)
That's a 103 deaths per hour, each day. And it will get worse.
His legacy is one of death, destruction, and failure.

On Friday, my son stayed home from school because he had a sore throat and wasnβt feeling well. He went with my husband to his office for the morning while I handled our daughter. When he came back at lunch, he was not interested in eating, saying his throat hurt too much. 1/n

You are referring to them criticizing what youβve done around U.S.A.I.D. by saying foreign aid is not good territory for Democrats to fight for?
Yeah. And you think I donβt know that foreign aid is not as popular as Medicaid? Of course I know that. But there are going to be mass deaths from malaria and H.I.V./aids and other preventable diseases and conditions because of what the United States is doing. So do I have to be thoughtful and sometimes clever about how we go about communicating that? Yes. Am I going to wait for a more popular program? No, because what they are doing here is ignoring a federal law.
Which federal law are you talking about?
The Foreign Assistance Act, and then, of course, every appropriations bill that funds the State Department and foreign-ops budget. Theyβre ignoring multiple federal laws. And Iβm justβexcuse me for being quaint about thisβbut Iβm not going to just gloss over that and wait until they touch the Affordable Care Act. Thatβs the kind of pundit-brain, poll-tested bullshit that got us into this mess. We are constantly being told that something isnβt polling well enough yet. And one of the things that Republicans do well is not allow their pollsters to tell them everything. They invent whole stories and then the polling follows.
Senator Schatz, @schatz.bsky.social, rejects idea that Dems should wait for Trump to touch 'most popular' programs to fight.
"I'm not going to just wait until they touch the ACA. That's the kind of pundit-brain, poll-tested bullshit that got us into this mess."
