my recommended demos for the next fest was originally 12+ Vampire Survivor-likes despite me only owning Vampire Survivors + Megabonk in my 700+ game library, which makes me very curious about how this algorithm works.

Great question! I have no idea. Maybe it's just the ratio of people who are interested in making games doesn't really change? Or the demand ratio doesn't change enough to make it so much more worth making adult games over other ones?
Would be an interesting thing to look into

I'm working on more analysis but these initial numbers were pretty staggering.

tbh I thought there would be more adult games with how prolific it seems to be, but it's clear the struggle for discoverability is much larger than that.
