Incredible. We got to "Is a pedophile island really all that bad?" five times faster than I thought.

Obama had a Dem House & Senate from Jan 09 to Jan 11. From July 09 to Feb 10 he had a Filibuster-proof supermajority & could have passed anything & Republicans could have done nothing

He squandered the opportunity. All talk no action

I voted for him twice but judge his Presidency to be Meh

The US has forfeited our world economic leadership for good. American economic power has peaked and its Trump and Republicans that initiated the decline.

The world is moving on without the US

He plans on giving almost all of it away

He has also set up charitable trust to donate to philanthropic causes.

He plans to leave 99% of his fortune to the trust

Warren Buffet is a good person unlike all these others

Let’s make no mistake: that domestic interference IS foreign interference. Putin has the goods on them and that’s why they’re all in on policies he likes. Russia has been quietly at war with US for decades. Our complacency kills us.

Its been 80 years since the emperor lost his godhood. About three generations. The last time I was in Japan in 2001 so maybe the younger generation has moved on. That was true in Korea as the young were much more open & friendly but the oldster gave sour looks some wouldn't let you in their taxi

Racism can still pop its ugly head up even if a child is taught from birth not to be racist. A human fault, like vengeance, or cruelty, can still manifest itself even if someone has never been vengeful or cruel their entire life or even heard of the word or even understand what it is their feeling

Partially correct but not entirely IMO. Racism comes from the same place "part of the herd comes" - Not one of the group so to speak. The young can escape it for awhile, due to innocence not intent. Its part evolutionary holdover that at one time protected a group.

Racism is color blind. Its an inherent part of human nature. The most racist society I have ever worked with & interfaced with are the Japanese. One you leave the tourist centers & get into the areas tourists don't venture into you'll have to hunt for a bar that will allow entry for non japanese

A wise decision. Until we know more about the faults of AI its better to play safe. We know it can hallucinate, we know it can make decisions contrary to what's best for humans. We know it can snoop on your e-mail, social media, government records without being directed to.

AI can be dangerous

Very. We are going to need to rethink this whole AI effort. I see little good in it so far for the population and lots of potential bad. I do see it as being a tool to make the rich richer

If AI Thinks you can pay more, you will.

AI Might Let You Die to Save Itself In recent simulations, leading AI systems blackmailed their human usersβ€”or even let them dieβ€”to avoid being shut down or replaced.

This won't end good.

Study challenges negative cannabis stereotypes, claiming link to brain benefits Cannabis was linked to increased brain volume in a new study, but researchers urge caution, as findings contradict previous research on marijuana's effects.

Just the excuse I was looking for!

"While cannabis has recently come under fire for potential negative health risks, a recent study suggests that its use could increase brain volume and cognitive fitness."

A lesson Democrats should learn about leadership. Pres. Lincoln relieved five of his generals of command due to lack of aggressiveness & poor performance. Lincoln sought effective leadership & reflected this by persistence in finding a winning commander. He finally found Sherman. We need a Sherman

The Trumpists like to present themselves as defenders of the West.

There is one country fighting against brutality and barbarism, and in defense of everything we cherish about the West: Ukraine.

The Trumpists are hostile to Ukraine.

The Trumpists are betrayers of the West.

Thinking Clearly About the Global Authoritarian Movement Day after day we’re seeing more signs of Donald Trump’s slipping grip...

"It is not so much an anti-democratic world β€” though it is certainly that β€” as an anti-civic world. It’s a world of private, one-off deals, mutual pledges of secrecy, often enforced by soft, mutual extortion, and above all, a rejection of democratic accountability." β€”Β @joshtpm.bsky.social

Yes we would. A 401k can be used for medical emergencies. Home down payments, education and a number of other uses. Good luck being poor all ur life and not needing money for any of these things. A 401k only works if you have access to a sufficient amount of discretionary free cash
