"The social breakdown that we are witnessing, the degrading of human beings, is not a byproduct of the harm that Israel is inflicting. Thatβs the central element of the crime: destroying Palestinian society. The government of Israel shows no indication that it cares in the slightest whether Palestinians live or die. It wants to avoid the stigma of being accused of starvation and genocide, and the GHF is its current alibi. Letβs not be fooled."

I see grocery/takeout shaming discourse going around again, so this is your periodic historian reminder that cooking from scratch daily while working has never been sustainable, and for millennia everyone either relied on takeout & restaurants or ate in huge households w/ big dorm-like group dining.

The reason this isn't going away is because the US is home to far more survivors of childhood sexual trauma than anyone wants to admit or who have been steeping in silence, shame, anger and quiet isolation.
They identify with those victims in ways they sometimes barely realize and they are PISSED.

Australian media are writing nonsense about me again. Don't believe the ridiculous, privileged cancel-culture badfaith-lobbyists who get in medias ears. I have never "glorified terrorism" nor been a threat to anyone. I'm just a wee broke novelist with no power or influence... that abhors genocide

This is very bad. Although entirely predictable. Once more the humanities are being cut back to prop up STEM and, increasingly, AI investment (including at the expense of bench science). In the past, cuts to humanities were promoted on two separate logic streams that do not hold true: /1
