Our son is now 14 months old and he is a handful! Some days, especially since winter started, have been tough, but looking forward to more warm days ahead.

02.02.2026 15:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I left my role at the Women's Fund as it wasn't the right fit for my personal or professional goals. I started consulting part-time back at Rutgers Education & Employment Research Center. I'm enjoying part-time work coupled with part-time stay-at-home parenting!
02.02.2026 15:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Signed back in for the first time in a long time! Interested in reconnecting with #sociologists and other academics as I enter my second semester teaching SOC 101 at my local community college. A lot has changed since I last posted on here!
02.02.2026 15:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Held my first class of the semester last night and WOW did it feel amazing to get to teach in person for the first time. Itโs a small class, just 6/8 students showed up but of them, 4 were deeply engaged. I canโt wait to get to work with them over the next 12 weeks!!
06.02.2025 13:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโm currently working on a facilitatorsโ guide for a workshop on writing emails or letters to local elected officials. Itโll be adaptable to any group and Iโm happy to share the resource when itโs done. Iโm open to ideas or resources you might have for making it impactful for participants!

You could go through nearly this entire article replacing "anti-DEI" with "segregationist," and it would work.
Homogeneity is the opposite of diversity, which is what they aim for.

09.01.2025 22:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The best thing to come out of my grad school experience was meeting my best friend soul mate. She left yesterday after spending about a week with us and using her doula skills to support us. I am so lucky to have a best friend like her.
09.01.2025 13:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs for the intro to sociology class Iโm teaching this spring! Looking for peer reviewed articles to accompany the chapters Iโm assigning from an OER textbook.
08.01.2025 02:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Calling all sociologist friends! Iโm looking for recommendations of peer reviewed articles for the following topics:
1. Poverty/SES
2. Stratification
3. Contemporary sociological theory
4. Capitalism and the economy
5. Authority and the state
Bonus points if itโs open access!
What are your favorite peer reviewed journal articles centering class identity/poverty/Socioeconomic status?! Also interested in articles that look at stratification. Iโm trying to pair at least 1 peer reviewed article with each chapter Iโm assigning from an OER textbook for my intro to SOC class.

Still working on putting together my 101 syllabus and looking for recommendations! Itโs been a while since Iโve taught the class (2018 ๐ฎ) and Iโve also been working in primarily alt-academic settings since 2021. What are some of your favorite readings to assign in sociology 101?!
