My generation has had to weather the AIDS crisis, 911, Covid and now this. I know other generations lived through the Great Depression, epidemics and brutal wars, etc. And people in other countries live their whole lives under brutal regimes. But all of that collective mourning, where does it go?

In addition to the moral, political and economic fallout from Trump’s two terms, I think America’s collective health is really going to suffer, and not just because of RFK Jr. The fear, indignation and helplessness, take a toll. The sleepless nights. Anxiety about the environment, etc.

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

The US stands alone in dismissing the problem of climate change.

You know that old “Goodwill towards Men” thing at Christmas? The wish for kindness, peace and well-being for all humanity - it’s missing this Christmas what with the current occupant of the White House and his administration.

It boggles the mind that a woman who is ruthless enough to shoot a puppy is not ruthless enough for this administration. Anytime.

Our success in opposing the current regime depends on convincing those of its supporters who are wavering to refuse to prop up the authoritarians.
