And that work life balance is a myth because work is part of your life
22.03.2025 21:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Hot take: โSeveranceโ is a part of Appleโs plan to bring people back to office by telling them thatโs where they will find true love.
22.03.2025 21:34 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thatโs a great list. Iโm currently experimenting with different browsers. So far I like Zen, Waterfox and Brave.
14.03.2025 13:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Too bad, privacy wise they don't seem to be going in the right direction. For now, I will probably find home in more private alternatives.
04.03.2025 16:03 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And itโs probably unironically the most rewarding thing to do long term
24.01.2025 21:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Despite everything, computer science is still cool as heck
You mean to tell me I just push these bits around and it can DO stuff???
Current reality in commercial projects - the highest priority is speed of delivery. So everyone is defaulting to โgood enough, ship itโ mentality.
I guess a part of the issue are consumers (myself included) who accept that level of quality/speed in software.
It just needed some good sleep back then
24.01.2025 19:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Impressive. Do you think itโs going to become the new standard (eventually) and dethrone NodeJS?
24.01.2025 11:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And now I can't use it because my Linux device doesn't have a dedicated GPU.
@zed.dev can we at least have an option to disable the GPU requirement?
Before you go
I'm developing a minimalist routine mgmt app for neurodivergent/ADHD folk.

The solution?
Re-downloaded the "google-services.json" from Firebase console and voilร , the images are imagically loading!
So there you go, hopefully this post reaches a developer before they cross to the other side of the "Sane" river.
Turns out Cloud Storage bucket name format has globally changed on Oct 2024!
Source: firebase.google.com/docs/storage...
As I downloaded my "google-services.json" file before the changed rolled out, I had an old-format name.
At the same time, I set up the Cloud Storage just a couple of days ago.
Wasted 2 days trying to find out WHY the images hosted in Firebase Storage aren't loading in my app. Exhausted all search options, browsed a lot of Github issues, started slowly going crazy.

Screenshot from an app. A card that shows a "Workout Bag Essentials" routine with it's steps and possible actions.
Working on a side project. Scratching a personal itch.
#rouapp is a routine/checklist management app with a simple design. The goal is to make it as easy as possible to manage recurring multistep tasks for neurodivergent minds. Hopefully it's as simple and effective as Zed, but for routines.
How does bsky algorithm work in comparison?
05.12.2024 22:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Amazing! Congrats!
I know one should use the right tool for the job. But in this instance I wonder why Next was used for the website (teaching golang) instead of go/templ. The website's code itself could be a useful example for students.
I donโt think we should skip learning mathematics just because we have calculators.
30.11.2024 21:52 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Given how amazing the product is (in beta, mind you!) the question 'who's behind it' popped up in my mind too. Sure looks like a team with an impressive background: zed.dev/team
30.11.2024 21:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My main gripe with Warp is the blocks get in the way when you're trying to quickly inspect some of the output. It's just less legible.
30.11.2024 21:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I feel your pain. Sometimes it's very long, and you're barely able to find out what's the root of the issue. Especially frustrating when you accidentally move the mouse away from the popover while scrolling down or reading.
30.11.2024 21:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think they still provide enough value for the price.
For hobbyists it's a great option: the user base is small = less usage.
For enterprises, the prices are still competitive compared to other providers.
I wish this was baked into the editor itself
30.11.2024 21:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Nice! Manifesting some of that growth for my account too.
30.11.2024 21:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโve been evaluating @zed.dev this week. Working on my RN mobile app (Rou - simple routines/checklists for neurodivergent people).
Apart from a couple of missing QOL things Zed has been pretty darn good. You just donโt feel the bloat typical to other popular editors. Itโs snappy and looks good.
I think they know it on a deeper level.
