Globular cluster M5 in constellation Serpens.

Messier 5, a globular cluster in Serpens, taken with William Optics FLT91 πŸ” and a Poseidon-C Pro πŸ“·.

It can be seen with the naked eye (from a dark site) as a faint star. At 23 arcmin is about 2/3 of the size of the full Moon.

Rosette nebula An astrophotograph by Lucian Vancea on AstroBin

Rosette Nebula

Pretty popular target this time of the year, here is my version.

14 hours total exposure over 5 nights, from light polluted city skies. πŸ”πŸ“·

I'm verry happy with it. Would recommend! Mechanically and optically everything is superior to my previous refractor, a 16 y/o WO Zenithstar 80. There are lots of options out there, for this aperture / focal length / price, but I can only speak about this one.

Horsehead and Flame Nebulae An astrophotograph by Lucian Vancea on AstroBin

Last πŸ”πŸ“· picture from last year. Finally got to process it.

The famous Horsehead nebula and Flame nebula around Alnitak, the first star in Orion's belt.

Took a bunch of 45" πŸ”exposures of comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan–ATLAS back in October. Here are 13 of them, auto stretched and cropped in Siril and then compressed to a 4" mp4 with ffmpeg. So ~12 minutes of actual movement of the comet, down to 4 seconds; (there is some downtime between exposures).

I would also think those are oversaturated stars. Maybe you could try to use starNet to process the nebulosity and stars separately in Siril ?! (My best guess)

Orion Nebula An astrophotograph by Lucian Vancea on AstroBin

Orion Nebula
An easy πŸ”target for the cold season. The core is so bright that it's easily overexposed, mostly because of the "young" hot stars at the center.
One of the most studied and photographed objects, what is there left to say about it ... so here is my version:

Yes, I meant it's a 1/4 of the size.

On the longest axis M27 is about 8' and the diameter of the full Moon is about 30'.

M27 An astrophotograph by Lucian Vancea on AstroBin

M27 aka the Dumbbell Nebula www.astrobin.com/gcxjln/

About 23 hours of data collected over multiple nights with a FLT 91 πŸ”, from Borte 8 skies.

It's about 4 times smaller than the diameter of the full Moon.

I took this picture while somebody was trying to ruin my exposure, so might as well make the best of it.

πŸ“·πŸ” M100 - a galaxy in the Virgo Galaxy Cluster, 55 million light years from our own galaxy. Taken from Santa Clara, CA, with an 80 mm telescope; 50 min total exposure for each channel. Processed with Siril and GraXpert.

The Alien Head nebula, I don't think it's called that, but looks like the xenomorph's head.
Well, it's called Eastern Veil NGC 6992/95
Taken 23/07/2023 from Lick Observatory with a WO RedCat 51 πŸ”, modified Nikon D7000 πŸ“·, Optolong L-eXtreme filter, processed with Siril.

the latest image I took in 2023. The Flame Nebula & Horsehead Nebula near Alnitak (in Orion's belt).
Progress, but still a long way to go (also equipment does make a huge difference 😁) πŸ––
