If Gavin got over 12.5% of the vote he would have gotten €250,000 in election expenses from tax payer money. Not a good idea to vote for him as a protest vote. It's just handing Fianna Fáil your money.

Remember voting for Jim Gavin doesn't spoil your vote, but if he gets 12.5% or more then Fianna Fáil gets €250,000 of your taxes given to them as election expenses.
