Does it make sense to say that I’m not a record collector, but a collector of records? Never wanted to fill shelves, but I enjoy music on a record and I always want to get another, so I find myself having more ? When do we cross the line from music listeners to museum hoarders ? #vinylcommunity

Just take your time with it. Pick stuff you like and will enjoy and every 2 purchases of renowned classics try to get a newly released record. Listen to everything slowly and repeatedly whenever you’re in the mood, rush never helps, this is a sport for pleasure sloths

First of all, Porcupine Tree deserve all kinds of attention so I’m with you on that. Didn’t mean to sound dismissive and we all have done it, but I guess I’d like it to be ‘officially’ branded as the low fat experience of a concert

I understand the keepsake of a great night , but isn’t all that time wasted when you see a concert through a lens? Doesn’t it lessen the experience?

Not sure what has a more lasting effect on me, surprise drops (hello Kendrick), or calculated releases (greetings Opeth)

don _hertzfeldt Not to sound like a curmudgeon, but when I was a teenager, I took the train to go to the record store to find rare stuff. Spotify is way more convenient, but that wasn't the point. The point was to get out and to feel like you're hunting, to feel like you're living your life. I'm going to the movies, I'm going to this show. What streaming has done-it's very convenient, but it's taken the feeling of going hunting and turned it into we're all just being fed. We're all farm animals that are just being fed, and we're being fed content. You can just stay home. Just stay home. We'll just feed it to you. No wonder everyone's depressed.
