On this night in 2014, went to a re-creation of the first #BEATLES concert in front of a paying audience in the very building where it was originally held - with original opener Tommy Roe! - in Washington, DC. They used lights outside the building to show what it looked like then.

Students used to ask why I showed them silent movies from 1896 onwards.
I explained that they were still a part of modern cinema with Scorsese homaging Edwin S. Porter's The Great Train Robbery (1903) in Goodfellas,
a film which had many references to the western genre.
