But i have a lot of ideas and desires. And i dont want to fall into a rut. So idk. Just saying this out into the void bc sometimes speaking it into existence does work somehow. And even if it doesnt work and I create nothing, at least you know where my heart was in trying.

I took a break from projects, mostly bc family and things needed attention. Then i took some time to just ooze out and not have any obligations, to just Be. And now im ready to get back into things, but it's hard. Im scared of the time commitment, the energy commitment. Creativity is taxing.

Oh i didnt mean you need to get any panels, was just making a joke because that part is funny.

I know very little about DC continuity, but I like to believe that Darkseid just saw Metron one day and deduced (correctly) that that dude had it figured out. Find the perfect chair, and you'll never have to get up again.

It's rare for Metron to be so featured on a cover, but JK4W really gave the fans (me) what we want!

That interpretation came from @smileart1.bsky.social and i think(?) another person who isn't on bsky. Their thinking on it made it so much more impactful and like, i can totally see it

Just so nobody misunderstands, I was living my best life with those panels. We were all cackling. We loved it every part of it.

And that's why I'm writing this. I wanted to put out into the world a big thank you. In this rambling, meandering way, I wanted to express how happy I am to have had all these wonderful experiences and met these great people. All bc of a single comic book run. It's pretty amazing.

All kinds of new experiences! I'm very grateful.

And then last Wed I picked up NG12 and had to close my box at my LCS bc that's all I had pulled. It felt like closure I wasn't quite ready for, but closure nonetheless. It was the end of an era. Bittersweet. It got me to look back on this past year.

And then I made this bsky account, not really knowing what to expect, and have met such cool, talented New Gods fans here! People I would never have met otherwise!

I also wrote blog articles (I'll get back to it someday), learned how comic book stores work, pre-ordered figures, the list goes on!

On a different platform I've been a Metron fan for a while and well, it had been very lonely. When NG came along last Dec, the long time 4W fans were hype, new people showed up interested in the characters, and there was a turning point where people actually wanted to talk about my fave!

I just want to say a few extra things now that New Gods has wrapped up. Not putting this in the other thread bc it's more about personal experience.

I'm just so grateful for what this past year has been, and this comic has been a huge, HUGE factor.

Truly, please let the entire creative team know how fun this has been, and how appreciative we are to have experienced it. 💜

There's so much more to say, but the thread is already long so I'll be brief. Thank you. For sharing this story, for filling it with beautiful art and gorgeous colors, for including so much Fourth World lore, and for bringing this small group of fans together each month to share our thoughts.

And that's it, but only for now! We're so curious about future arcs. Where are the Forever People? Will we see Raker Qarrigat and his lantern (which may or may not be extinguishable)? How about ties to the Absolute Universe? Will Lightray come back again in some form? All we know is we can't wait!

28. Love how this all started with Metron, and here he is at the end too. Great bookend. But. WHY is he sitting like that? He's so freaking shiny (slick, some might say), and he's putting his exposed fingers in our face! And now he and Orion are holding hands?! Wild. 🤣 What a duo they'll be.

25. Augh, Orion telling Izaya he doesn't have to apologize to him. However! He better step up for Scott!
26. And then after al the free will talk, Orion is still on about destiny. Maybe so. But Metron has other ideas.
27. So glad we got to see helmet-kitty-eye Orion one last time!

23. Liked that the light isn't killing darkness, it's going back to innocence. Espec after the despair Kamal had in the singularity. Side note: We NEED Lightray to come back and meet Kamal.
24. And Orion is humbly passing the title of HF to Scott, who looks distressed but Liv is reaching for it! 😅

21. Liked that Diana is the one to emphasize Kamal gets to choose. Once again, free will is the key. And she gifts him use of the lasso. Perhaps a truth bound eternal corded round his arm, one might say.
22. WHOA! Suddenly beefy! Between Scott and Orion's sizes.

18. Kamal is afraid, alone and aware. Heartbreaking the weight of it on him. Unlike the others he was put on Earth to be a god, but raised by humans. Gut wrenching what he must be going through.
19. Scott embracing Kamal! He invoked their language for that hug 🥺. Wonder if Kamal can understand him.

17. Metron's narration speaks of mortals and free will when we see Scott and Orion. It's fitting, as their human qualities have always been what makes them compelling gods. Interesting they no longer refer to the gods as "new".

15. Curious if/how Serifan will fit into a later arc, espec with the FP originating as humans from the '88 run. He's extremely disenchanted with the gods.
16. And on the heels of that Orion in the next says he's not sure the gods have a heart 💔He puts all the guilt and blame on himself.

12. His powers affecting the panel and text bubbles was fun, and the design following the golden ratio when he attacks is 😙🤏(And he loves saying trade secret)

14. We really like how Diana and the JL are written with respect and care. They felt very natural.
