you have found a very small snake and/or worm in your internet garden. this creature is likely doing important work for your local ecosystem that is very difficult to explain or notice. this is about pronouns.

11.08.2025 18:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0wait...I *am* remembering a tiny pocket dictionary on the school supply list one year, I think it was too small font for all my classmates to read easily lmao, and I *really* don't think more than one assignment actually made use of it. What you're describing sounds very useful, to be clear.
31.07.2025 21:59 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0anyway overall agree I think, even if I quibble with details.
31.07.2025 21:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0the uniquely English conception of short and long vowels drives me up the fucking wall to this day. that's not how English works. we don't *have* vowel length. we have Germanic and Latinate vowels, and different levels of stress on vowels. trying to simplify that into "long/short" drives me mad
31.07.2025 21:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0for what it's worth, I have always railed against phonics because I learned how to read before I ever encountered phonics. (combination of my mom flailing around with some flashcards with dedication despite me never showing any signs of getting it and reading hymnals in church I guess lol)
31.07.2025 21:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0wait what? they didn't have dictionaries in my school. (aside from the big one in the library that seemed to be for decoration to all the other students) we didn't even have vocab lessons until we began standardized test prep lmao
31.07.2025 21:48 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0(just to give you the full perspective we hashed it out a little more down this thread: bsky.app/profile/tran...)
31.07.2025 21:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm seeing a couple aspects to this I haven't encountered before, I don't think, but I do recall similar arguments, sure. the medical/social transition distinction seemed to have been a ceasefire solution for a while now. but I can hardly claim comprehensive knowledge lol
31.07.2025 21:25 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have always been tempted by gender anarchism/abolitionism personally lol, no categories need be recognized, simply how each person you interact with wishes to conduct and describe themself. but alas, that's *also* fighting uphill lol
31.07.2025 21:18 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0apologies I meant everyone upthread, not specifically you haha, but fair enough, "her".
31.07.2025 21:16 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0also, given that you *are* inventing a definition, and plopping it where a term already exists that people have been using the whole time, yeah, I can see that some hackles would be raised.
31.07.2025 21:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I'm not saying you're wrong to invent a term, simply that conflict with people who haven't come across your new definition is natural. perhaps a compelling case will be made. but you're not using this word the way that it's been taught in schools for years now, for example. it's an uphill battle.
31.07.2025 21:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0"Trans" is not short for "transition", it's Latin for "across". the reason why transgender and transsexual are synonymous traditionally is because they describe the same distance or disparity between sex and gender, just from different perspectives. using "transsexual" this way is new.
31.07.2025 21:11 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0but I wholeheartedly sympathize with the feeling that terminology squabbles can be *really* unwelcoming and make people feel like they're not invited into categories or spaces with fierce guarding at the gates.
31.07.2025 21:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I would like to let them speak rather than try and define what they're thinking, because it's quite possible I've already interpreted them wrong, and I'd rather not draw conclusions that haven't been stated on a dicey subject like this.
31.07.2025 21:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0that's a radically different definition than I've heard for the last decade. roping off GNC from trans is *weird*. also, framing it in terms of *perception* is weird, I've *always* heard "lived experience" not "social acceptance".
I dunno, use words how you like, but conflict is to be expected.
of course I say this as CoD cranks out more and more generative content lmao and really isn't that what video games really means in financial terms...
31.07.2025 17:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0baffling. even assuming this happened, why would *video games* be the application of such technology? this is antithetical to video games as they exist right now, which are curated experiences and artistic expressions. (not to mention escapism from this exact sort of thing lmao)
31.07.2025 17:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0oh btw first time playing, I didn't even realize you were a game dev until you started posting about this release haha, I just liked your cute stickers and stuff back on cohost lol
29.07.2025 23:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0yayyyyy Mac build, I'm in!
29.07.2025 23:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโm paywalled because fuck the Times but uh, so the parents werenโt working? And they only got $300 a month. I mean thatโs *not* nothing but I donโt know if thatโs really going to make a big difference, no. Or they *are* working and this quote is irrelevant lmao
29.07.2025 03:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0And I was fine with the reality-TV-ification of those subreddits but Iโm considerably more upset that people are basically asking ChatGPT to report the news now and getting answers of about that same level of plausibility and publishing them to once-credible sites
29.07.2025 00:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm honestly astounded at how good the average streamer is at redirecting the anger of random people. I mean, it's their job, really, they should be good at it, but also I didn't think it was a trainable skill, I guess?
28.07.2025 22:34 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0As someone who openly and freely admits that I was almost completely taken in by Russian propaganda as described in the Mueller report, we're *really* at risk of shit like that again.
28.07.2025 21:27 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I feel like the phrases "it takes money to make money" and "the rich get richer" should probably be closer associated.
why is the first one charismatic risk-taking individualism and the second one callous boardroom dealing when they're synonymous?
always amazes me that Republicans don't realize our immigration stances are *practical*, not some ridiculous "open borders" ideological view. We need this labor! if you want to kick them out, tell me how you're going to do it *without* wrecking the economy!
28.07.2025 18:55 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0How is it that the reactionary content *surrounding* 4chan is so much worse than I ever experienced 4chan being? (Not like I was *trying* to plumb those depths, I suppose)
28.07.2025 04:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The golden age of pocketable computers tbhโฆ man, howโs Jolla doing with Sailfish these days anyway
27.07.2025 07:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think you broke it
27.07.2025 02:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was thinking Sastashaโs back rooms, and then of course thereโs the Coeurlclawsโฆ so really in every region of the base game lol
