Recently, we welcomed Dr. Jann Vendetti from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles to study a California icon: the #bananaslug! She's researching Button’s banana slug (Ariolimax buttoni), sampling species from CA to WA to determine their evolutionary relationships. #ucbc

Why did the #newt cross the road? To get to the Japanese Pool, of course! It's officially that time of year! The first rain of the season has triggered the newt migration, and they're making their journey to the water to mate. Aww, we love them so much!!

Fall is starting to show off! Aptly named Flameleaf sumac (Rhus copallinum) is lighting up the Garden with its brilliant red foliage in the Eastern North American Area. Come take in the first signs of fall color—it's just getting started!
