A weekend in Cambridge and another visit to @cambridgecityfc.bsky.social - this time against Witham Town.

Cambridge took an early lead in the 11th minute, only for Witham to equalise four minutes later. The visitors then went ahead in the 17th minute from the penalty spot.

A proper rollercoaster at the EBB this afternoon — the Shots 2–0 down to AFC Halifax before a dramatic comeback to win it 3–2. Some very odd refereeing decisions along the way. Beers are very much on the cards tonight 🍻

I grew up an Arsenal fan and used to be a regular at the Emirates. Then after moving to Aldershot in 2012, I was talked into going along to watch a game, I’ve been watching them since. I love standing with my mates on the East Bank terrace.

A dreadful first half saw @theshots.bsky.social go in 4–0 down at the break against Solihull Moors. A brighter second-half showing came too late as a fifth was conceded. Josh Barrett scored a consolation before Christy Grogan was sent off, finishing the match with ten men.

Strangers in the Night

A double live album released by British hard rock band #UFO in 1979 that I picked up in a local charity shop. I’ve given it a clean-up with #LegendVinyl, and surprisingly it’s in almost immaculate condition for vinyl that’s not far off being 50 years old!

One of my favourite plants are cacti 🌵 it was great to see the large specimens at @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social. The collection of cacti inside the Arid Lands glasshouse was fascinating.

We spent the best part of today taking a leisurely stroll around @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social. The trees were putting on their autumn show of colour.

Of particular interest was the Averrhoa carambola (star fruit tree), which was fruiting in the greenhouse.

Love seeing the fruits on the Arbutus unedo, they add a little splash of colour to the garden through autumn.

Although edible, I’ve found them to have an unexciting flavour, though they’re often used to make jams, preserves, and liqueurs.
