Still have CRC32 on the mind. Here's something I've been thinking about for a while, correct a single byte error using CRC, checking with MD5 since these collide often with larger files: github.com/hcs64/crc-flip
Finally got the algorithm simplified, mostly publishing to get it out of my head.

Turns out I was half right. And less than half wrong.

I was asked about using crc32 to identify files corrupted with initial zero bytes, since I'd written crctrunc back in 2019 to (slowly) match zeroes at the end. I finally got around to it, here's crc-init-trunc. As a bonus it's also vastly faster at crctrunc's job.
