When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

I used to read a ridiculous amount of dystopian fiction. Then I stopped in 2016 because the fiction was too close to reality.

Even reading more fantasy these days, sometimes it’s too real.

Same though. I’m supposed to do my taxes like there isn’t a coup going on? Like major governments agencies aren’t getting axed on the regular. Do I make the check out to the IRS or Elongated Muskrat? Can I claim my eggs as dependents?

I am in a better headspace after deleting TikTok, but that’s a choice I made because it was not good for my ADHD. Anyone can see that the ban isn’t altruistic in nature.

Honestly wish I could delete all social media, but I use it to stay in touch with people and use Insta for work.

Even as someone who uninstalled TikTok a couple of months ago to improve my mental health and productivity, losing a major social media because of a government ban doesn’t sit right. Sure we’ve lost other social media and moved on, but only because we moved on.

I’m so lucky that THIS is my cat.

I made this awhile ago, but haven’t really been using it. I don’t think I’ll fully get rid of facebook because it’s how I stay in touch with my extended family and I belong to a few groups there that can’t really be replicated elsewhere.

However I’ll post here more.
