We must be a united front against autocracy, I've never been a huge Gavin fan, but I haven't seen anyone as effectively attack Trump yet.

I will never bend nor bow to authoritarians because I studied history and I know how that ends

As an early diagnosed autistic person, married to an undiagnosed autistic person, son of an autistic man, brother to 1 or 2 undiagnosed autistic siblings, I cannot stress this enough:

Fuck RFK Jr, the audacity he has while sounding like a 150 y/o Grandma who needs water.

Well, Oklahoma so both.

I also wake up at like 6am every morning, have to drive 40 minutes and have seasonal depression so my grudge with DST is pretty personal.

[I also have firm inflexible sleep schedules that tend to be stronger about when I wake up, but that's just autism+ADHD]

Also, permanent DST is an awful idea. Just stop springing forward, go back to standard time ffs.

Start calling Trump's bullshit what it is: slop populism. It's the political equivalent of filing a trough full of Taco Bell and McDonald's and ringing the bell so all the little Maglets can come and get their fill of populist garbage. It's slop, plain and simple.

Absolutely ridiculous. And concealing a motivation: he wants to make it easier for big business to destroy our state's natural beauty for profit.

The only way we should be engaging with the culture wars is by challenging the legitimacy of the culture war itself. By engaging directly with the rhetoric, we legitimize it as a point of conversation.

Spoiler alert: It's not, the worst thing about having autism for me personally is all of the bullshit I have to listen to from non-autistic people about autism.

28.03.2025 15:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Even if Autism was somehow caused by vaccines (it isn't, it's primarily genetic, and not a single epigenetic factor has anything to do with vaccines), if you'd rather your child be dead than autistic, you're basically telling people like me that our autism is a fate worse than death

Spoiler alert: It's fucking not, the worst thing about autism for me is the sheer bullshit I have to endure about autism from non-autistic people.

Good question. Why DOES Pete Hegseth have a Russian phone number? 🀨

We've been waiting for years. Why didn't the National Dems help us before we got to this point?

27.03.2025 17:23 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I am autistic. And you're the one who came onto my page to start a fight because I said something you didn't like. You're acting very neurotypical right now.

27.03.2025 17:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm sorry that was your experience. Hasn't been mine, but one side of my family is secular and autistic, and the other side is indigenous, so I'll admit I haven't had the most typical experience of the state.

27.03.2025 17:12 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Did I say that it's something to be proud of, or are you doing that thing that NTs do where they extrapolate more from what's said than what was actually said?

27.03.2025 17:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, sure, the gay indigenous person in Oklahoma is a racist southerner because I made a point about turnout, poverty, voter apathy etc.

Are you even a person of color, or do you just try to speak for us?

27.03.2025 17:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Counties don't vote, people do, and only ~49.2% of all voting aged people voted (1,535,812/3,120,689).

27.03.2025 17:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm aware. I only used PA as an example because it's a prominent swing state, no other reason.

Rural turnout (and urban turnout as well) is quite low in most of the very impoverished states, but wealthier states like PA might be different. Suburbs here are the high water of turnout.

27.03.2025 16:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Most of them haven't voted. Voter turnout where I live specifically is regularly ~30% of the adult population. And many of those who don't vote don't think that their votes would change anything. And if they do decide to vote, because most everyone else like them won't, it becomes self fulfilling

27.03.2025 16:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm sorry, are you implying that autistic oversharing and communication styles are mansplaining? I didn't know your gender.

27.03.2025 16:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Should be, totally agree, and it is in many places in this country, but not where I live.

27.03.2025 16:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That's a great question! They're focused on winning swing states, and close elections, and that's it. Dems here try, but there's only so much we can do with the scraps national Dems throw us (if we're lucky)

27.03.2025 16:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm telling you, as someone who actually lives in one of those places, the problem is not quite as simple as you're making it, nor can it be reduced to a bootstrap/"personal responsibility" argument. It's a complex beast of a social problem.

27.03.2025 16:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

While I appreciate that there are problems in Germany, Germany also doesn't have (Republican driven) voter suppression like many US states do, and from the data I can see, the GINI index is only ~71% that of the US, and the education system is fundamentally broken. And paid leave is not guaranteed.

27.03.2025 16:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The median household income in the place I live is, based on the current conversion rate, €27,787.65, and this is not a particularly impoverished place for rural OK. This is only marginally higher than the yearly salary at minimum wage in Germany.

27.03.2025 16:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So, it's really quite different from Germany, and the reasons for why voter engagement is far more necessary here can be summed up as "poor people and minorities have been given a shit deal, and there are a lot of areas, both rural and urban, that have been neglected for decades."

27.03.2025 15:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And keep in mind, this is a place that's close to a major city, and this is a place that, despite all of that, is still *better off* than most rural communities, mostly because of the tribal investment and relative proximity to the city.
