Day Eleven. My dad's birthday. Mine too. He's not Black, but family lore has it that my mom's German/English/European family thought she'd married a black man when she married our dad who's from Peru. He taught me so much by his life and actions. 21 years after he left us I still miss him. TY Dad.

D7 - Black History Month.
I celebrate Leroy, who taught me about Juneteenth, 46 years ago. Every year since on that date I think about Leroy. I celebrated when it because a US Federal holiday in 2021. It's good to celebrate freedom, even if slave owners don't want people to know they're free.

Isn't he always? He never looks like he's having fun or having a good day. I think it's something about the food he eats.

Hopefully this word is passing through and to the communities that need it.

Black History Month, D6 - Through Nat, I met his wife, Mrs. Anna Tate, realtor extraordinaire who spent HOURS and DAYS driving us around Oak Cliff to find our home in 2012. For THREE months! We love her! If you're looking for a realtor in Dallas, let me know. I'll put you in touch with Mrs. Anna.

Day Five: In 2010, Mr. Nat Tate began helping my team work on an orientation curriculum for our organization. We had a tiny budget and I was so ignorant about what to do. Nat patiently taught me and always maintained a sense of humor and godly attitude. What a joy & blessing to work with him!

Today I spotlight Ms. Star Nelson--a dynamo, spiritual giant, passionate about connecting people to the heart of God. She and her husband Ron work tirelessly to mobilize Blacks, African Americans, and communities of color to serve in full time missions.

On Day Three of Black History month, I celebrate in-coming Executive Director SIL International, Dr. Johnstone Ndunde. During the last years of my service with SIL, I had the opportunity to work with Johnstone as he led the Global Localisation team. God's blessing on him in this new role!

(You can't make this stuff up!) Texas Governor Abbott (pictured here) orders state agencies to eliminate DEI policies. Perhaps no one has ever explained to him what DEI stands for?

On Day Two of Black History Month - I want to pay tribute to my friend Johanna Fisher. Johanna has worn many hats during her lifetime; caregiver, radio personality, receptionist, spiritual mom, music lover, cultural guide, to name a few. I appreciate her love for Jesus and her friendship.

As we celebrate Black History Month, I would like to celebrate Dr. Esau McCaulley. I appreciate his books, his perspective, and his walk with Jesus. And especially how he challenges us to walk like Jesus did, and to explore what changes we need to bring about in our lives.

This is a good thought for Friday at the end of Week 2 of Chaos from the White House.

It does seem that the AP might have gotten their reporting a little askew on the matter of federal employees being given 8 months pay to leave their jobs. The man offering it to them is a crook and shyster, so they'd be well warned that he has no intention of paying them...

This seems to be true, and good news.

After months of being in a new home and traveling, piggybacking internet from our son's home across the street and three houses up, today we got our OWN internet connection. As I was reveling in the speed and not being kicked off every few minutes, this saying came to mind...

People like Speaker Johnson who get worked up about being compassionate to all while at the same time applauding a president who pardons convicted criminals...makes me wonder about their moral compass. It certainly can't be pointing true north.

This looks interesting. I've never been a twitterer and Instagram is somewhat of an enigma to me, although I do post things there from time to time.

These are difficult times. Many things look bleak and glum, and in fact, they really are. However, many things are beautiful still. Here are some photos from our recent trip to Spain, that was full of family time, friends, and beautiful scenery. Enjoy.

So, for the people who think immigrants are taking their jobs, here's your opportunity! Go for it! C'mon, whatcha waiting for?

If only. That in-coming president is incapable of seeing things from a non-partisan perspective. He's only for himself and those who are like him.
