Fuck this fucking government.

Mostly unremarkable.
Or jobs that the vocally xenophobic natives just arenโt qualified to doโฆ
24.02.2026 15:24 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No, and itโll be Labour who blocks anything like that โ the โLabour above all elseโ mindset among the grassroots is too deeply embedded. I think most Labour party members would rather their party was out of power forever than ever share electoral success with anyone else. Unfortunately.
24.02.2026 11:39 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Going off wildly at a tangent here, I was reading how the Netherlandsโ Labour and Green Parties contest all elections on the same ticket these days, as theyโve converged and want to avoid vote splitting.
(The Dutch Labour and Greens are much more similar than the UK counterparts are, admittedly.)
See, with those โreformsโ I wouldnโt have gotten any support at school. And I missed a year and a half of secondary school as it was, due ongoing problems getting accepted anywhere as a statemented kid. Doubt things are much better now for todayโs youngsters.
Yeah, Labour are just red-hued Tories.
Oh, melatonin isnโt all that, from my experience. Acquired some last year, and all it did was give me bizarre hallucinatory feeling dreams and heart palpitations. Even at half the standard dose. Wouldnโt recommended.
23.02.2026 07:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Highly-sugared flavoured milk would be on-brand for the character, I think?
21.02.2026 11:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, the prob people have is charging so much for a glorified ROM dump when thereโs a fair amount of GBA games to play โfor freeโ on their online service already. They were never going to give any of the mainline Pokemon games out for free, but nearly forty quid for the set is far too much.
20.02.2026 13:49 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Exactly. It all just demonstrates that in practice the Starmer government is functionally just an extension of the Cameron to Sunak governments, just with a different, nominally Labour, figurehead in charge.
19.02.2026 15:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thatโs a pleasant - and unexpected - surprise!
19.02.2026 11:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, itโs depressingly common. All of the 4K disc versions of James Cameronโs various films, including Aliens, are bad AI โup-resโ versions, for example. If somethingโs not on a boutique label, and wasnโt a feature film, itโs likely an AI upscale. :/
19.02.2026 10:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If I had to say one positive thing about the Jaguar, it had a good version of Doom for a home console. Back when it was a game otherwise requiring well over a grandโs worth of PC hardware to play. Otherwiseโฆ
19.02.2026 08:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oof, even at that price Iโd have felt ripped off!
18.02.2026 20:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I still remember when virtually all UK email addresses youโd encounter were Pipex, Demon, CIX or (less commonly) Cityscape. Well, except the academics and students with their .ac.uk addresses.
18.02.2026 13:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs reached the point where half of all local businesses where I live seem to use AI slop on their leaflets, signs and other promo material. The public sector isnโt immune either; even saw an NHS advert I saw on YouTube the other day with a suspiciously genAI-looking crap rodent character.
17.02.2026 12:57 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I wondered the other day what weโll be using when this place eventually goes tits-up. Probably a not unlikely it could be a network of carrier pigeons.
17.02.2026 11:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Image of the Sega TeraDrive (a MegaDrive combined with what was then-called an IBM compatible PC) from 1991. I grabbed the image off a Google image search.
See, while that design was never released, perhaps it anticipated the TeraDrive?

15.02.2026 13:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Didnโt ever see one either. I remember the articles in Crash pushing it, in one of the last issues I read before our family got an Amiga 500. Seems the Speccy mags seemed very keen for the Sam to succeed, but it faltered pretty much immediately and never stood a chance even as a hobbyist machine.

14.02.2026 14:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We get kids to start school 2 years earlier than most of the rest of Europe as well. Which doesnโt work out well for us, looking at international comparison tables.
