Recall: Cong. GOP expanded ICE’s budget by 8.5x since Trump took office last year. This massive increase in funding led to a 2.5x increase in the number of ICE agents. ICE agents receive 8 wks of training; same as TSA. Other law enforcement (police, FBI, etc.) receive at least 6 mo. of training.

The CR to reopen the gov also contained a provision that opens the door to several Senate Republicans personally receiving $500,000 (possibly more) from the DOJ. (See page 225 of HR 5371, as amended by the Senate).

BREAKING. House Republicans seek to repeal the gun safety provisions in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. HR 6035 (intro'd today) would relax background checks & licensing requirements + allow convicted persons of domestic violence to purchase guns

Comey Indictment Shows Danger of Subservient Prosecutors The political prosecution of a presidential enemy has left the government with a seemingly unwinnable case β€” and a justice system tainted by politics.

Halligan may have obtained the indictment the president wanted, but it...one thing to get a grand jury to indict. Getting a conviction is an entirely different matter. New from me for @brennancenter.org A discussion of the flawed Comey indictment. www.brennancenter.org/our-work/ana...

Why Jimmy Kimmel’s First Amendment rights weren’t violated – but ABC’s would be protected if it stood up to the FCC and Trump Think you know what the First Amendment means and protects? You βˆ’ and a lot of Jimmy Kimmel’s defenders βˆ’ may well be wrong.

Jimmy Kimmel's defenders called his suspension an attack on the First Amendment; one said it was the most "straightforward attack on free speech from state actors I’ve ever seen." Is it? @profunger.bsky.social explains what the 1st Amendment does/doesn't protect theconversation.com/why-jimmy-ki...

I’ve passionately disagreed w/ Kirk on almost everything. But I respect his right to say it. As an American value, we must not, we cannot, allow violence to creep into our free speech & civic dialogue. We do not shoot those who we disagree with; rather, we must engage w/ respectful civil discussion.

Dems Leadership wasted an opportunity to rebrand the Big Beautiful Bill when it was under consideration by Congress.

Big Barbaric Bill
Big Betrayal Bill
Big Bad Bill
Bad Backwards Bill
Blatant Bankrupt Bill
Brutally Barbaric Bill

Anything would have been better, but Dems were MIA.

The Big Beautiful Bill appropriated $100M to β€œfund accounting efficiencies in the Executive Branch.”

Seems inefficient to me.

Oh, Professor Ilan Wurman. His myopic tendency blinds well establish contrary precedent.

Just two weeks ago, SCOTUS "reaffirmed" the Susan B. Anthony List precedent in Mahmoud v. Taylor.
