The Words Federal Agencies Are Discouraged From Using Under Trump - The New York Times Federal agencies have issued guidance to employees on hundreds of terms to limit or avoid using. An analysis of government websites shows many of the same words being removed.

Science here is impacted by the US restrictions too. Funding on collaborations in certain topics has dried up. Communication has also been affected, as in that American scientists apparently are shifting to use their personal email accounts instead of university accounts or prefer calls.

A long list of words starting with “activism, activist, advocacy, advocates, barrier, barriers, bias…” Headline: “Forbidden words in the US research. How are we to react?”

This list of "banned words" has been posted in the institute's kitchen here in Copenhagen as a reminder of the infringements on academic freedom in the US. There are big concerns among scientists, and at the same time they're unsure how to appropriately respond as a European researcher
