How do people keep saying that Elon Musk and Peter Thiel are so well spoken? How did these guys make it this far while being so demonstrably poorly spoken, so much so that it’s quite offputting?

27.06.2025 20:54 — 👍 223 🔁 14 💬 20 📌 2The word “login” comes from throwing a log attached to a rope with knots overboard a ship to see how many knots go by over time (see also, knots as speed). You’d then put that info in the “log book.” You’d “log in” on a regular basis. This wasn’t from 1959, it was likely from 1689! Etymology baby!

14.03.2025 19:05 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I dunno. I’ve hired electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, cabling companies, a generator company, and a lawn service with multiple young women in their dispatch routine. All doing fantastic jobs. You couldn’t even think of such a thing when I was a kid. I think it’s pretty darned awesome!!!

14.03.2025 03:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I was looking at that last night as an option. That certainly helps so I don’t have to do a lot of work. But grouping and colorization of connections seems missing, unless it just doesn’t have a GUI to configure it (which is fine for now).
16.02.2025 20:32 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0So far I don’t see my ADS extensions in @vscode.dev I hope they do because this is not feature complete and it stinks.
16.02.2025 00:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0THIS! The connection manager stinks. Colored tabs were key to know you were on the right DB. I would be OK with this if the MSSQL extension for vscode was feature complete, but it is not. Connection manager is sub-par, UX features sub-par, and extensions to ADS I rely on are not there.
