November 12, 2025 It turns out Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and House Democrats were right to call it the β€œEpstein Shutdown” for the last several weeks on social media and in interviews.

Why we don’t blow up the two party system will always confound me. The republicans are even more disparate than the democrats.

All the democrats want the shutdown to end. It’s the how that is the issue.

November 10, 2025 Last night, the Senate advanced a measure to end the government shutdown, which at 41 days today is the longest in U.S.

Like bouncy balls in a small closed room. Unpredictable.

Focus on the good out of this. Thank you.

Don’t you think this is a strategic vote using established moderates who are not up for reelection in 2026? The CR is only good through December. In the meantime if the GOP doesn’t vote on the ACA we will be back into a shutdown and they will have lost any leverage. It also forces the House back.

10.11.2025 14:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The government needs to reopen. This was a strategic vote to do just that while forcing the republicans to show their hand. If they refuse to vote on the ACA the government shuts down again January 1st and the GOP will have nothing to negotiate on. This also forces the House out of recess.

10.11.2025 14:34 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Folks, while we all wish they had held out for the extension to the ACA this gets the government open. It forces the House back to Washington- to swear in Grijalva, and to force a vote on the ACA. If they don’t hold up their end of the bargain, they shut down again January 1.

10.11.2025 12:23 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe those 8 senators just forced his hand. I don’t like the vote on the CR without extending the ACA either, but this could be the silver lining.

How many are up for reelection anytime soon? King isn’t up again until 2030.

Maybe they just held Little Johnson’s feet to the fire.

King is over 80 years old and has 5 years left in his term.

Yes, this sucks. But the government needs to reopen. If they do not vote on the ACA as promised and the CR runs out at the end of December we’ll be right back here in 45 days.

β€˜How is this possible?’: a new film looks inside the appalling abuses of the Alabama prison system In the year’s most shocking documentary, The Alabama Solution, prisoners share astonishing footage in a plea for help

And now, if you read the devastating piece about what Venezuelan deportees endured at the El Salvador torture prison, read what incarcerated U.S. citizens endure in Alabama prisons.

State prisons in the U.S. that are massive systems of human rights violations.

God just needs 17k followers to hit 600k. And then 66k more after that to hit 666k. That will be funny.

Thanks,

November 7, 2025 The repercussions from Tuesday’s vote, in which Democratic candidates were victorious across the country, continue to echo.

I’m convinced today’s GOP has given up on actually governing.

I heard some old friends at Pod Save America were in town, so I decided to stop by. As we saw this week, we can change this country for the better. But it’s going to take all of us getting organized and having honest conversations about the best way forward.

November 6, 2025 β€œNone of this is complicated,” political data specialist Tom Bonier wrote yesterday about Tuesday’s dramatic Democratic victories around the country.

β€œThe [Republicans] ran on affordability in 2024. They gave sanctimonious lectures on cable news on election night about how the β€˜silent working class majority’ had spoken. Then they governed as reckless authoritarians, punishing the working class.”
