A large flock of geese fills the sky as the take to the air after the arrival of some bald eagles.

A huge flock of geese came over a hill when I was out this morning, no doubt agitated by the family of bald eagles that were nearby.

This is sort of a Where's Waldo photo in that one of these geese is not like the others.

Looking across a pond at the trees on the far shore. The trees have all lost their leaves. The trunks and branches are silhouetted against the clear sky which is shades of oranges and purples and blues from the rising sun. There's a small flock of ducks swimming across the pond near the far shore.

Quiet mornings at the local ponds just as the sun is about ot rise is one of my favorite times for photography.

Up early and out to the opposite side of town to get some photos of this morning's sunrise. The clouds didn't stay this color for very long so I got there just in time.

A hooded merganser, a small duck known for its prominent, black and white fan-shaped crest, swims across the surface of the pond in the early morning sun.

Captured my favorite duck this morning, the hooded merganser. I was able to get down to the shore and get a few shots but they got startled by something and few off not soon after.

A bald eagle, its wings spread, soars in a cloudy sky.

It's been nice seeing the eagles down at the park recently. They've found new places to perch since their usual tree came down due to high winds earlier this year.

The sky glows green and pink from the northern lights.

Like many other photographers, I rushed outside last night when I heard there would be an opportunity to photograph the northern lights. Luckily I was able to find a spot just north of town.

An immature bald eagle turns, exposing its underside.

Getting a shot of an eagle yesterday was a challenge with all of the other birds in the air. Just finding the eagle among all of the other birds was hard enough, then getting a photo without one of the other bids getting in the way was also a struggle.

I saw my first flock of these for 2025 last week but couldn't get anywhere near close enough for a photo 😭

A gull sits in the water, it's mouth wide open as it watches two gulls fly by, one chasing another that is holding a fish it caught moments earlier.

The must have been about 500-600 gulls down at the park this morning. I like this shot partly because it's almost like the gull in the water is having a reaction to the two gulls flying by...

Don't hold your breath it's probably going to be a while before I get down there. I haven't taken any Denver photos since 2023.

I use the electronic shutter, so I just end up with lots of bursts of photos, never really aware I've taken that many. I really need to spend some time cleaning those up because there's many thousands of photos I can delete there.
