One of the most annoying things about twitter is that you can only ever form friends with people who have the same follower counts you do, since there is a strict social hierarchy. Reddit used to not have this at all but eventually they implemented profiles and followers to be more like other sites.

Basically any small subreddit tbh, most people tend to be pretty okay if you dm them after commenting back and forth for a bit. People now have like, profiles and pfps and stuff which is quite a bit annoying since you have people who try to be "influencers" now, but you can just avoid them.

I made friends with this guy by posting really hard about serialism on reddit. Reddit is essentially the only place where you can form online friends with strangers anymore tbh. Twitter and bluesky feel like they're rotting, tumblr is isolating, and discord is for tight social cliques
