It’s about having a coherent strategy, not chasing a single figure on a spec sheet. War is teamwork, not a data point. It’s not about fielding a single jet to rival the F‑35, but building an alliance of platforms strong enough to make any real‑world aggressor, especially Russia, regret their choice.

The whole "generation" idea is mostly US marketing hype with little meaning in real combat. A 500‑kilogram bomb hits just as hard, whether dropped from a third‑ or seventh‑generation jet. Just look at Ukraine: the Su‑57 is nowhere to be found, while the old Mirage 2000 is still doing the job.

Like any weapon system, the F‑35 operates within the broader US air superiority doctrine, where the first strike paves the way for all others. It forces entry so the F‑15E, B‑52, AH‑64, and others can follow. Without US support and its network of platforms, the F‑35 is impressive only on paper.
