12.02.2026 23:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterdayβs game, more Cabinet Noir (intelligence agency competition and cooperation in Napoleonβs Empire). 3 players today. (Scales from 2-8 players.) Here are some prototype components, and a section of detail from the board with the color-coding for the different dice in play:
12.02.2026 14:22 β π 51 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Todayβs game, a matrix game called New World Order, designed off the back of the U.S. November 2025 NSS. Global trade agreements gradually froze Russia out. Although an incident with Russian and Chinese warships in the Malacca Straits caused loss of life and some military escalation no war erupted.
09.02.2026 17:18 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs game: Black Orchestra. We played 5 players - and killed Hitler.
04.02.2026 17:36 β π 26 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Todayβs reading is a play: The Rhineland War: 1936.
01.02.2026 16:29 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs (simplified) history, at Albany airport, NY. Because of these contraptions strung across the Hudson the Royal Navy couldnβt get down from Canada, so we get the Saratoga Campaign, so we get the French entry into the war, so we get American independence. (Add a couple of those to the flag?):
29.01.2026 15:16 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1Todayβs game: Tales of the Arthurian Knights. A storytelling engine game. (I think of this as a blend of a tailored storytelling game, and a systemic storytelling game.) Derived from Tales of the Arabian Nights, but with some successful amendments, in my opinion.
28.01.2026 17:08 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Among my most anticipated historical board game releases of 2026: Peace 1905, a delicate balancing act of peace, national interest, and face-saving (@writegameread.bsky.social @fortcircle.bsky.social). Read more:

Yes - no graphic designers were harmed in the making of this prototype. When the publisher gets it things will start to change and art will get a proper focus.
15.01.2026 18:16 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs game: Cabinet Noir (prototype for Les 3 Zouaves publisher). Fouche (who would have thought?) backs the Empire which clings on and survives into 1815, despite Napoleonβs unpopularity, and so he wins. Berthier backed the Jacobins, Talleyrand the Russians, Chaptal the British.

29.12.2025 04:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Recent acquisitions of possible interest:
26.12.2025 16:45 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes - Iβm looking forward to these immensely. Frank is a thoughtful designer coming to shake things up.
26.12.2025 16:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Downer ending for too many people?
24.12.2025 17:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What historians are you recommending?
23.12.2025 22:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From your previous post you seem to suggest US institutions were responsible for the advent or rise of Nazism. Am I following you correctly? Who do you think should have been prosecuted?
23.12.2025 22:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hereβs hopingβ¦
23.12.2025 22:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What you said gave the strong impression to me that you thought the trials were not worth conducting. I feel, as imperfect as they were, they were better than nothing.
23.12.2025 22:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Better than short-cutting to executions, though, no?
23.12.2025 21:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Excellent - thank you - I agree with you about the wrong decision taken. It was my least favourite part of the movie, and didnβt even feel that satisfying in the moment. I enjoyed your notes on the historical background too.
23.12.2025 21:40 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Todayβs arrival: Prelude to Leipzig by John Theissen.
23.12.2025 20:13 β π 14 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Todayβs movie:

21.12.2025 02:17 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs second game - 2-player Cabinet Noir (prototype). The British win, which means Berthier and Fouche tie in this case.
19.12.2025 21:17 β π 31 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs first game - teaching 2-player Crisis: 1914 (with a power cut going on).
19.12.2025 21:14 β π 72 π 4 π¬ 0 π 1Todayβs delivery: Beethovenβs Assassins by my PhD advisor of yesteryear, Andrew Crumey.
15.12.2025 21:13 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I entirely agree.
