Hey Greg --- if you're not going to vote for Lindsay Luhnau, could we ask you to please not vote this election? Thanks a bunch.

21.04.2025 05:24 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Is it possible even the MAGA supporters know what their government and their leader are doing is morally wrong and indefensible?
Does their inner conscience know better?

(Those conversations rarely progressed beyond a few cheeky jabs back and forth).
So the question is why?
Why, if Americans are so gosh-darned proud of their country, are they so afraid all of a sudden to let people know who they are?

There were plenty of maple leafs on board. One of the folks we were travelling with even made sure to wear at least one prominent maple leaf or other Canadian symbol at all times. And he was not shy about pushing back at the odd comment about "becoming their 51st state, wink-wink, nudge-nudge".

... even though some quiet observation revealed there were more Americans on board (as passengers, not crew of course) than any other nationality.
In fact, I don't recall seeing a single one.

...and the stars and stripes would be somewhere in the background, if not prominently displayed on their person.
Which is why it was odd to not see a lot of American flags or other U.S.A. symbols on our Japan cruise last month

Just an observation.
It is almost universally understood that Americans are among the most patriotic people in the world. I don't use A.I. but I would predict if asked to create a portrait of a typical American, it would return a caricature of someone proudly holding their heart (or a gun)

From a fellow Edmontonian (like our new Prime Minister) let me say thank you for your understanding. We wish you well in your fight for democracy and for the survival of your Republic.

Canada is your biggest market.
Maybe you should explain this to your legislators who threaten us.
We will take all the steps necessary to defend our nation from a hostile foreign power including filling the shelves with great Canadian whiskey.

27.02.2025 00:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I quit them last fall and thought it would be hard to live without Prime and without their deliveries. To my relief, it has been one of the simplest, easiest, most satisfying decisions I have ever made.

27.02.2025 00:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Our governments and the people who lead them won't so easily disregard climate change and (massive and rapidly increasingly) inequality of wealth and health and other "woke" issues if the people who have to live with the consequences the longest are able to choose who represent them.
26.02.2025 00:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Second, the older you are, the less your vote should count. I'm sick and tired of old fogies whining about our leaders and the state of this wonderful country. My daughter at 25 still has to live here (and in this world) for twice as long as me (if I'm lucky). Her vote should count twice as much.
26.02.2025 00:51 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Here's an idea. Actually two.
First, you need to understand politics and the issues that matter to all citizens before you should be allowed to vote. Civics courses should be a mandatory prerequisite to receiving a voter registration.
When you're POTUS they let you do anything --- you can grab other countries by the pussy.

Canadians don't boast about our beautiful nation.
We don't tend to wave the flag.
But when Trump tell us that we don't have a right to exist as a nation every Canadian must make a choice
- VIMY or VICHY.
I know where I stand.
Canadians never give ground in the face of tyranny.

From the get go of the second Trump administration, it was clear that the president would try to pass a bunch of executive orders without any clear indication that he, or his trusted advisors, actually knew if it was legal. www.democracydocket.com/analysis/wha...
