This struck me as I read it this morning. When I summarize what I point people to in my work as a chaplain, when I lay aside religion specific to a set faith tradition, I don’t know that I could come up with a better description. This is something we long to encounter, and long to participate in.
29.05.2025 13:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0When we lose someone, we encounter reminders of them throughout our life, and at first it can be hard to know how to handle them. To hear a song, to encounter a holiday, to visit a place that remind us of them can be overwhelming.
But later this can change
This approach of letting go my conceptions of God so I might encounter God in every kind of person is the heart of my work as a chaplain.

The temptation Jesus faces in this text is to craft a ministry, a Gospel, and a spirituality all with only room for positivity. All about manifesting miracles. All about the victory. All about the abundance. All blessing with no suffering.
