Not a total disaster, but definitely a bit over cooked.

The idea of a Storm book that is told with the trappings of folklore and has the pace of an action anime makes this comic really one of a kind. It feels epic not in the cheugy millennial use of the word, but ancient. Like AN epic. A book the character has always deserved. #ororospoilers #xspoilers

Comics fandom is actually four separate hobbies (craft based fandom, character based fandom, collecting, and stan-ing) and it is this dynamic that makes it difficult to discuss comics, outside of very specific circles, online. Also we should be harder on the most toxic elements of this hobby.

1 giant size x-men/uncanny 97 (starts the Claremont golden era you think of when you think X-Men)
2 New X-Men by Morrison/Quitely
3 Astonishing X-Men by Whedon (boo) and Cassaday
House of X/powers of X if you’d like to get into the last few years.

I think probably the thing preventing that fifth group from being entirely considered is their passivity. If you’re not in conversation with the things you like, yes it’s a hobby for you, but you’re not really in the community of hobbyists.

I think on top of the different impulse it also manifests in different behavior. A fan of a character probably is reading a book as it comes out. A Stan might only be focused on a specific era for re-reads, creating fanfiction or fan art.

I would probably describe those folks as fans of the craft, just on the lower end of that spectrum, but fair I suppose.

A lot of people are part of more than one, but very few are part of all four.

American Big 2 capeshit’s bloated continuity is Good, Actually because a multigenerational collaborative narrative is something genuinely unique and interesting they bring to the table.

Also a blanket “I was wrong” about Doug being on X-Force and X-Factor. I had never read X-Factor 2017. I’ll say it on the Avengers Academy episode to the four or so folks who sent in corrections, lol. #xspoilers

I’ve never made a babka before, but I’m going to change that this weekend (I’m making an apple and honey babka) I’ll post photos when I’m done even if it’s a big disaster.

To clarify a bit, I’ve read most comics titled Catwoman (all the Darwyn Cooke , all the most recent volumes, Frank Tieri’s run) and most Modern Classic Superman stories Watchmen and Kingdom Come. But it’s crazy to be 30-ish and learn, Batman is often really fucking good.

Recommendations like this are totally what I’m looking for!

I have trouble with alliums, so I dived a yellow onion and then soaked it in ice water and a little vinegar. Then rinsed and added diced raw Roma and a seeded jalapeño cilantro and a lime. Then I let it sit at room temp for an hour.
