THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT MUST STRONGLY SUPPORT AN AMBITIOUS EU ANTI-POVERTY STRATEGY. We urge MEPs to back the EMPL Committee report at the January plenary. This first-ever Strategy must be comprehensive, ambitious, and equipped with meaningful targets to eradicate poverty.

📝 On 3 Dec 2025, the EMPL Committee adopted its position on the upcoming EU #AntiPovertyStrategy, urging a comprehensive, ambitious and well-funded plan with meaningful targets.

Coalition for an EU Anti-Poverty Strategy Eradicating Poverty by 2050: More Than Words, a Comprehensive EU-Wide Strategy Is Needed Ageism perpetuates discrimination and deepens socio-economic inequalities in old age. The strategy must also reflect the lived experiences of older persons.

As part of the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗨 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆, AGE is calling for a strategy that tackles root causes, like discrimination and lack of access to rights, and includes the perspectives of older people.
