my lilac charcoal comes out hard as glass sometimes in that thing and burns forever. reminds a little of white charcoal in japan

then pack the area between the 50 gallon and the smaller drum with loose tinder, brush, and scraps. light it throw the 50 gallon lid on with a dect hole in the center of it and clamp it down. set the insulated chimney on it and watch the jet come out the top when it starts to cook

its a different kind. produces different results to that kind of retort. I use a 50 gallon wrapped in hi-temp insulation and a sheet metal around that. 1/2 holes around the base and the top(more at the base). set a 20-30 gallon inside full of wood for charcoal in upside down(there's a trick)

making charcoal is so satisfying for some reason. Are you using or have you ever made a large rocket kiln for making charcoal? those are a blast
