It's certainly true that acting in unison is much easier since Brexit.

And you're right, this is hard on the UK, but when/if it joins, it will hopefully understand and furhter propel this direction of travel.

No mention of wind

It’s been ridiculous here in ValΓ¨ncia for the last few weeks, not much rain, clear skies yet a 50km/h south westerly wind all the time with periods where we get gusts up to 100km/h

Make it stop!!!!

I’m not a fan of these rationalisations of Ratcliffe’s outburst. 5D chess this isn’t. He’s an unabashed old-fashioned nativist cunt.

Hardly needs to be said, but Brexit is the *polar opposite* of finishing the single market or uniting to face down threats from outside our continent.

Brexit has probably meant that making these necessary changes and advancements is easier for Europe

The real tragedy for Britons is that Europe is changing rapidly and we are no longer involved

Something many of the β€œrejoin” and β€œwe just want our FoM back” crowd will be completely unaware of

Do British citizens WANT to become what the US is now (& getting worse every day?)
I’ll bet if I put together a panel of American (& other totalitarian) experts who watched our undoing in real time & put them on a panel or in a documentary, it would likely shock some minds awake.

And if you think the 2 or 3 years of disruption when it was being built was bad, it will be nothing compared to the decade or more it would take to build a tram network

As an American now in EU, have to say y’all sound so much like πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ did just before Nov 2024.
Putin is thrilled about your blaming, infighting & lack of unity. So is Trump.
Farage wants what Trump wants - to destroy democracy, the UK economy & European unity.

It is quite funny how obsessed Humpty is with the β€œblame” game over Brexit

But he is very obsessed about a few other things too

Ultimately if WE want to join the EU again WE have to elect a Government that wants to be a part of Europe, and WE have failed to do that since at least 2010 maybe 2005

Unless the UK can accept responsibility for Brexit - an attack on the European unity by UK voters, don't forget - articulate and develop a proper pro-Europeanism, there is no real solution. The Brexiters will have won.

10.02.2026 09:43 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Blaming the "conspiracy" simply gives an excuse for the British electorate not to change its attitude to Europe.

Brexit happened by playing on nostalgia, exceptionalism, jealousy and straight-up Europhobia.

That there was manipulation doesn't hide the fact that these ugly sentiments are there.

Exactly this. And UK pro-Europeans play into their hands by blaming Europe for Brexit outcomes, by making the relationship transactional, by saying they'd do anything for Europe, but they won't do that.

Make the bloody case, hard, and win the argument.

We have to take the responsibility

There are undoubtedly far too many people who refuse to accept collective responsibility for what has happened

In Sport you win as a team and lose as a team (even if it was the skinny kid on the wing who missed the tackle)

Constantly trying to find someone else to blame for Brexit won’t help and
