Voter ID laws are voter disenfranchisement. If you're registered to vote, your ID has already been verified. Undocumented immigrants cannot vote legally and would be stupid as hell to try.

Most working class people don't have or use a passport. Getting a copy of your birth certificate isn't an easy process. You can only get it from the state you were born in so that makes it extremely burdensome if you've moved. Both of these docs require a lot of time and involve fees.
