Yeah, Hayworth’s turn to be in heat, and I think she’s just warming up.

Moments ago she strutted into the middle of The Lair like she’s the star of a floor show and started shaking her booty at Spike, who was just sitting there minding his own business and hoping for extra #snac.

I don’t know what got into them, but Tabitha and Hayworth both went into popcorn frenzies at tidy time this evening. Absolutely running around and bucking like babies. ❤️

Untrimmed corn husk from the farmers market. Meadow is the herd’s official Grocery Inspector, a role originally held by the late great Loki.

She said she passed on the cuddles, but the snac, being corn and extra husks from the farmers market, was excellent.

Where did the time go? It feels like a few months since she was a tiny bitey nugget.

Guess who turned 2 today?

They’re feeling better now that I’ve been to the farmers market and snatched up a pile of husks for them.

They’re behaving like starving urchins fighting over a single crust of stale bread. They’ve had lettuce, baby carrots and fennel already today, not to mention three kinds of hay. So spoiled.

Heard the sound of teeth chattering in The Lair. It’s Tabitha going after Spike for sole possession of a dangly snack, which one of them has somehow managed to pull down.

She actually snapped at him. Yesterday I caught her and Hayworth head-butting each other.

Spike’s 💩s are looking excellent, from what I see of the fine samples he has strewn over my brand new electric blanket.

Guess the decorating came out OK this year.

A shift in candy preferences, too. Kids going for Skittles and Blow Pops over chocolate. Kids and adults both going crazy over the Smarties.

Really interesting shift in Halloween costumes this year. No Disney characters, maybe two fairies, what could pass for princesses are spattered in blood. Lots of blood-covered costume knives and dark cloaks.

It’s brisk here. I bought a super-thick Jack o lantern face sweater to wear after shivering through last year. Turned out perfect for the temps.

I live in one of the most popular neighborhoods in Philly for trick or treating. The main drag about a half a block away is *insane* right now. As the older kids come out they’ll start working the side streets.

As I put up my decorations this year, I sincerely hoped nobody in the neighborhood has arachnophobia.

Gonna take a while anyway to grow enough sage to burn.

I wish I could remember who named his style Whorehouse Baroque so they could get the credit they deserve for nailing it.
