This is all I am going to say. There are schools like mine all over the country who are desperate for behavior support workers. If you want to make sure that autistic human beings are being treated and educated well, we have to do it ourselves. In 3 years, I have seen significant change.

Conversations about verbal, selectively mute, and nonverbal are not genuinely meaningful when an SLP coming from a district to do an AAC evaluation asks why they are there and is predisposed to say no because the student is “verbal.” We understand the scripts. Strangers do not. AAC please.

We must come up with a way to have conversations about the use of distinguishing terminology. In my environment, where *everyone* has a legal educational identification of autism or intellectual disability, and >75% are both.

I need to adopt this idea. Because the good electric pencil sharpeners are expensive, and that is how they break.

I have cancer. I also have a whole bunch of other chronic stuff that was hard to diagnose, won’t kill me, and requires multimodal treatment. There is a whole book about to be written in the different treatment experience.
For one thing, for once, no one is telling me to lose weight.

So, I have to remember that not everyone has insomnia and works at 2:30 on Sunday morning, and maybe parents and staff won’t want text/email notifications at this hour.

Many of my students cannot access appropriate care because they require restraint or sedation, and those pose risks of their own. My students attend school with physical maladies that would have many adults home in bed for days. We have a quiet room with the giant Costco squishmallows.

I am a GenX Elder - 1965, and spousal unit is 1971, and even the differences between us can be astounding sometimes.
The tech growth between 1980-2000 was at an incredible rate.

I will catch up later. I passed out at 4:30 and slept through. We added lung cancer to the chronic illness mix this week. I highly recommend getting early screens, because early symptoms get missed in us. I got *really* lucky when I changed doctors.
