His skin is tan and heavily scarred on the face, his hair is short and black, and his cracked eyes unnaturally glint different colors of blue and brown. He wears a black partial bodysuit with metallic contours and red ports, neck and arms exposed. Wires and cables trail from an offscreen source into an unseen port on his backside, as well as visibly open ports in his chest, neck, and skull. His left arm is robotic, and similarly bound by cables. A harsh light illuminates his expressionless face, reminiscent of a halo.

A sphinx and two birds drawn in typical colors of greek terracotta pottery, but stylized with more modern linework. Rather than her wings being on her back, they are in the position of arms, similar to a harpy. She stands against the backdrop of a watery garden, facing right.

The original pottery piece on which the drawing is based. It is somewhat crude, and shows signs of having been patch repaired, leaving the birds without heads.

Sphinx based off a spartan kylix design. I liked her janky wings and their forward placement; it reminded me more of harpy arms than the usual way sphinxes are depicted so I had to draw herrrrr (and also rescue her headless birds)

I still haven't seen one of these since moving to Minnesota and I'm starting to think they might be a hoax animal! 😭

January's #BirdWhisperer subject was the common loon! I feel like I've done a loon before but it was so long ago the file is long since decayed back into electrons. I really liked the simplicity and intensity of this.
