Some Chinese people have an easier life than some Americans. The opposite is true too. It's always been more complicated than Communist China = bad.

Multiple things can be true at once. Meta and Twitter suck but that doesn't mean TikTok and RedBook don't also have the same problems.

The same problem that exists with Meta and Zuckerberg controlling the algorithm is the same one that exists with Elon's algorithm and ByteDance and every other social media network and algorithm.

It oversimplifies a complex situation that doesn't lend itself well to a pithy 1 min video.

The people you see on RedBook are showing what's true for them in their lives just the way the people you see on TokTok are showing a snapshot of their lives.
