For as long as we can remember, the working people of New York have been told by the wealthy and the well-connected that power does not belong in their hands. Fingers bruised from lifting boxes on the warehouse floor, palms calloused from delivery bike handlebars, knuckles scarred with kitchen burns: These are not hands that have been allowed to hold power. And yet, over the last 12 months, you have dared to reach for something greater.

Now, I know that many have heard our message only through the prism of misinformation. Tens of millions of dollars have been spent to redefine reality and to convince our neighbors that this new age is something that should frighten them. As has so often occurred, the billionaire class has sought to convince those making $30 an hour that their enemies are those earning $20 an hour.

Mamdani's speech is SO GOOD: respectful, generous, sparkling.

My favorite part of tonight's election results is that all three of the major trump endorsements (Ciattarelli, Miyares, and Cuomo) LOST bigly.

And trump handed out 53 down-ballot endorsements in New Jersey and Virginia. THEY ALL LOST.

I continue to wonder when Americans will decide enough is enough. As Frederick Douglass reminds us:

FWIW, social democracies like Norway, Sweden etc have big businesses. They have billionaires.

They also have universal healthcare, quality free education & child care, and programs to curb poverty and food insecurity.

How?

Their billionaires pay taxes and don’t control the government.

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.
